I understand from the other comments that an in-reservoir filter is unnecessary if I start with filtered water. Just to make sure: does that mean that using water from my Britta pitcher to fill the reservoir is sufficient? If not sufficient, I suppose I would still need the Mavea filter.
Brita pitchers and filters remove the more harmful minerals from your water and reduce the level of calcium (which causes scale). They would be an equivalent level of filtration as the Mavea Intenza filter, and your machine will work with no issues with or without the filter, so long as you descale it when necessary.
