Would you recommend this for a first-time espresso maker? My husband got caught on them in Rome, but he's pretty clueless about how to use one. So he wants a great result fairly easily, and would make a purchase of this expense if he felt that it would be long-lasting.

You cant go wrong with a Gaggia, It will last a long time just keep up on cleaning and use soft water. This is a very good first machine and for some the last machine they buy.
