The problem you describe is unfortunately lacking some key details that would help us better diagnose the problem. You mentioned the light having turned on, but then switching off. When the light is off, the machine is indicating that the water tank is either missing or empty. If you remove the tank, refill it and re-attach it with a firm press, does the problem return?
